Just a note, this is my favorite episode. This episode deals primarily with Mamimi's life and behavior. Prepared to get burned!
Starts off with Mamimi playing a video game called "FireStarter," in front of Naota's elementary school. She explains
how the game works and Naota shows up.
She gets up and says in the coolest, most deliquent voice ever: "Heeeey Takkun!"
Naota is a bit confused and embarassed by this because his peers often tease him about Mamimi as his "wife."
Kanti now lives with the Nandaba's serving as a housemaid. Naota has two much larger horn sticking out of his head now.
It then flashes over towards Naota's house with Kanti (he's somewhat broken now, just does what he is told to do) taking
X-rays of Naota's head. What you would assume to be a lush full of superior N.O. brain goop turns out to be nothing at all.
There's nothing in his head. O_o Where's the fire?
Haruko reveals that her name is Haruhara Haruko, age 19, housekeeper to Takkun's (nickname to Naota) house. She works as a first class patrol officer. She also says all the robots that came out (or are going to come out..) of Naota's head are all manufactured by the Medical Mechanica plant. So, Kanti is actually made by the M.M. plant.
Naota and his dad argue later that day about using Kanti around the house. Naota opposes it because the public can see a robot hanging around the house and would think that it was strange and weird. Kamon wants to use it and does not care what the public thinks. You might be confused as why people are popping in and out randomly during this scene - they aren't disappearing, it just shows the amount of people that can potentially see a robot in broad daylight around the Nandaba's house - something that Naota does not want to happen.
Haruko goes out for a ride and crashes into the Medical Mechanica plant. She appears delusional and dazed and two guards
are on the scene. One stands guard while the other one is "patroling" up Haruko's skirt. >_<
Anyway, Haruko notices that the M.M. plant has no doors or windows so no one can go in or out. Naota strolls in
and gives Haruko some tools (it's actually a mobile Gundam figurine) and her bike is fixed.
Mamimi is out under the bridge playing with a cat she found (she named it Takkun too) and sees Kanti walking
around in the field and brushes.
Mamimi is convinced it is a God from her game (and thus gives him the name Kanti/Cantide)
because Kanti is wearing wings and a halo. Mamimi follows it to the old burned down elementary school and snaps a few shots with her from her camera.
The whole gang regroups back at Naota's house. Kanti flies down after running some errands for Naota's grandpa (porn centerfold; yuck!) and Haruko (some pulp drink; yummy!). Mamimi shows Naota some pictures of Kanti flying around the old burned down building. Naota gets super pissed and threatens to chain him down. (Kinky bondage?)
Naota and his school friends walk by the bridge and recollects about the burned down elementary school. They decide to go
and investigate after conjuring up different tales of its destruction (UFO's, arson). It gets dark and Naota
is then seen walking on the bridge with Mamimi. Mamimi drops her video game that she obsesses over and lights
a cigarette. The game that Mamimi plays is a handheld video game. Basically your mission
is to burn down the city and allude the firefighters. You can't burn down everything because you need a place to
live. You win when you get the blessings from Lord Cantide-sama.
Another fire emerges near the river and Naota realizes that he just lost Mamimi. He also finally realizes that the fire at the old elementary school was actually done by Mamimi and was influenced by that game of hers. He runs off to find her.
Mamimi is in front of the old elementary school with a circle of cigarette flames around her and two lighter
things on her head. She's meditating or something. Kanti is actually nearby looking for old pieces
of his head (he does this in his spare time). Mamimi approaches Kanti and tries to kiss him ("bless me with your
kiss, your absolution").
Then suddenly, the M.M. plant has it's sirens flaring again and Naota's horns on his head gets much larger. The robot that sprouts out of his head this time is the main body frame of the previous robot that got it's arm chopped off in the first episode. It has a retractable arm that it can launch and grab onto things and then then it reels its body in. This robot is much larger and lays a smackdown on poor, pansy Kanti (apparently when it's blue, it doesn't want to do anything, it just tries to run away. When it's red, it stops sucking and starts ass kicking). Haruko is on the scene and attempts to smash the larger robot with her guitar but to no avail.
I am so for serious about this. Watch closely and read carefully, it's one of the coolest scenes ever.
So Mamimi is in the middle of this battle and Naota dashes and saves her as Kanti comes crashing in. The robot
grabs onto Kanti and reels itself in. You would think that it would be all over for Naota, Mamimi, and Kanti since the other M.M. robot
is on the offense.
And it's just about to do the final, finishing blow when Naota yells out
"Tasukun" (the name of Naota's brother) and Kanti finally clicks in and deflects the blow like a badass.
Kanti then picks up Naota and "eats him" and
BOOM, it transfer into the red, kickass mode Kanti (with Atomsk's powers!). Justice time has arrived and Kanti easily
counters all of the other robot's attack. Kanti then does this weird bazooka transformation and disables the other
MM robot. Haruko jumps onto and does her final blow which makes the robot combust and explode.
Red Kanti then literally poops out Naota from it's system and turns back to blue. The group bonds for a little while, but Haruko speeds off in her Vespa
before the firefighters and authorities come. I believe Kanti ends up going with Haruko, just flying behind her.
Awww.. In the very end of the second episode, instead of fleeing from the authorities, Naota stays with Mamimi. I don't understand why Mamimi would want to stay there, but maybe she wants to confess what she has done as closure or is just curious as to how the firefighters are going to put out the flames. I think Naota wants to stay by her because he understands that she doesn't really have anyone else to support her.
This was a really fun episode, it really digs into Mamimi's life, character, and behavior. Hope you get it! ^_^
