FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Have any FLCL questions that have been confusing or bothering you? I think I can help. Just send me an email with your question and have it posted here!

  • FLCL, Fooly Cooly, Furi Kuri?!
Do not be troubled, this fansite isn't for three separate anime series. This site is already unorganized as it is. I can't even imagine how I would intergrate three different anime shows without mismatching information and content. But anyway, FLCL is special because it's known by three separate titles. However, FLCL is just an abbreviation of Fooly Cooly. Furi Kuri is the Japanese name for the anime.

  • What exactly are the N.O. powers that Naota and Atomsk seem to possess in great abundance?
It's never explained what "N.O." really stands for, but its concept is explained quite well by Amarao. N.O. powers utilize the left and right side of the brain. When activated, usually by some sort of trama to the head, one can pull anything from anywhere in the universe even including entire star systems. I'm not sure if it works in real life, wouldn't try it though. If you do, you might end up at some sort of Medical Mechanica Hospital! HAHA, GET IT?!

  • So I hear that Fooly Cooly has to do something about fondling of the boobs or something? Tell me more!
Well, well... Someone apparently has been reading up on this stuff. I have too. From what I read and seen, yes. Apparently, Fooly Cooly is a slang term for "fondling of the women's breasts." If you recall from the episodes when they had manga mode, Naota's dad and grandpa are always obsessed with "fooly cooly" and "foolying coolying around." Their actions when describing and ranting about fooly cooly (and furi kuri) is obviously something very sexual. Naota's grandpa would always do these quick hand grasping motions that undoubtingly resembles someone groping a pair of breasties, if you know what I mean.

  • What happened to Kanti after Haruko smacked him up in episode one?
After Haruko smacked him, Kanti's box head partially explodes making him retarded. Kanti also changes colors from red to blue. This part is pretty significant. Remember that Naota was still attached to Kanti by his sleeve when Haruko smacked Kanti. The powers of Atomsk are now transferred between the two and can only be activated once again when the two combine and merge together. At least that's what I think. Do I hear a counter-retort anyone?

  • How does "flictonic" relate to FLCL?
Haruko Haruhara mentions the word "flictonic" in episode one when she is dressed up as a nurse and Naota came in as a patient to check up on his head. Haruko says, "Hmm... its 'Flictonic Cliple Weber Syndrome,'" and Naota responds with "What? FL... CL...?" The reason why it relates to FLCL is because FLictonic CLiple Weber Syndrome has the initials FLCL in it even though it might have just been a made up word.

  • What was Kanti doing in the cabinet? It looks like he was building something!
And building something he was! If you noticed during previous scenes, Kanti was looking around the old burned-down school for various fragments of his red "TV-box" head. Well, all this while, Kanti was humbly, patiently trying to build up his head again ever since Haruko smashed it with her guitar. You'll notice that Kanti's attempts at rebuilding his head was sympathetically sad and Haruko (or Kanti himself) made him wear a cardboard box instead to help him with his self-confidence. Check out the visuals below!

  • What ever happened to Mamimi at the end of the series?
Supposively, Mamimi left town and became a photographer - something that she is really passionate about and has been doing throughout the series. She was also the one that took the picture of Naota standing on top of the rumble after the "final battle" holding his guitar. I believe her work will probably become very influential and popular, hence that photograph of Naota is already on the cover of a magazine as well as other pictures such as Kanti's "UFO" flight.
