Well, there isn't much to say about Naota Nandaba. What?! Are you kidding me, heck no, Naota is the playboy of the entire series! Proceed shall we?

Naota starts off the entire series by saying that "nothing amazing happens here." Haha, yea right.

The Basics
He is a twelve year old boy that lives in the town called Mabase. His father is an a journalist and his grandpa is the coach of the local baseball team called the Mabase Martians. All three of them live in a small bakery house combo thing (most oriental dwellings combine both business and housing together). His brother, Tasuku, went off to America to play baseball because he's really talented. Mamimi, who she believes is Tasuku's girlfriend, is left behind in Japan and starts to flirt and takes out her sexual interests or fustrations on him in ways such as groping and kissing him.

Anti-Girl?
Naota is a typical boy character in terms of interacting with girls. He's normally pretty shy and laid back. Doesn't really get involved very often in much of anything and just living life on a day by day basis. He seems a little anti-social to me personally and seems to cling onto his brother more than anyone else in the series by often making allusions to his Tasku throughout the series. He's quite shy and feels very protective as well as feeling ackward when girls come close. He'd back away or just leave in the case when Haruko decides to share the same bed when she stays over. When Ninamori does the same thing when she was spending the night, he cowers back when she leans in. He also gets annoyed when Mamimi fondles and messes around with him. Although he doesn't exactly run away and hide, he often questions why she does it. Another interesting tid-bit is that throughout the series, it never reference to his mother. He just lives with his dad and grandpa and probably doesn't connect with women as much because there was never any mother figure in the house.

The Chosen One
So, when the series starts, Haruko shows up and pretty much changes the entire life of Naota. She runs him over with her Vespa and then bonks him on the head with her guitar which made a huge bump. To top that, Haruko becomes the house maid to the Nandaba's to monitor the activities occuring in Naota's head.

You might ask: Heads, robots, where's the fire (w.t.f. basically)?

Let me explain, Naota is the chosen one because he possesses HUGE amounts of N.O. powers. The N.O. powers trigger or becomes activated when the left and right sides of the brain are operating together which can be triggered by whacking the person's head. This allows the user to steal or attain certain things by sprouting it out of their heads. Naota is often seen wearing funny headbands, hats, or bandaids to cover up the large horns poking out of his head.

Baseball!
Naota likes baseball and plays for the Mabase Martians, a local team in the town. His brother also plays baseball and plays overseas in the United States because he's real good. Although Naota is on the team, he rarely swings the bat. I'm not exactly sure how baseball ties into this except that he really, really admires and looks up to his brother who plays baseball... I do however recall at least two times in which he "swung" the "bat." In one episode, Haruko left him on top of Medical Mechanica to swing a fresh guitar (pulled out of his own head!) to stop a satillete from destroying the city. He swung, hit it, but the energy exploded and wiped part of the town. In another episode when he came home, his father (actually a machine) greeted him and asked him silly questions. He got so fed up, he smashed the TV which caused his robot father to combust.

Pet Peeves
I thought this would be interesting... He has a few things he dislikes. Obviously, it's carbonated and sour drinks. He states that a few times when Mamimi and Ninamori buys a drink and gives the rest to him. But he also seem to hate change. When the series starts, everything was average, everything was normal. He meant Haruko which started to mold him into a more outgoing character. At first, he seemed a little hostile to the idea and eventually adopted it. He even runs away with Haruko for a little bit with no worries. He use to be shy to girls and ends up trying to make a move on Mamimi and then in the very end won it with Haruko (a kiss that is..). He even becomes bored when the teacher starts using chopsticks and prefers the easier and normal way to eat his food: with sporks.
